UIN Jakarta, UIN News-UIN Jakarta is in the process of building the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences building in Kertamukti area, East Ciputat. The construction of the building is done in two phases, starting in early October 2010 on an area of approximately 10,000 m2 and building area of 12,000 m2.

The chairman of the building construction, Saeful Tasman SE, said that FISIP building is built as high as six floors equipped with a basement. It is expected that the first phase of construction will be completed in late December. "The budget comes from the 2010 National Budget-Change (APBN-P) amounting to Rp 3.2 billion from the total cost of Rp 91.5 billion," Saeful said, when UINNEWS met Saeful in his office some time ago. He also explained that the inauguration of the building’s construction was carried out by the Minister of Religious Affairs Suryadharma last October.

The construction of the FISIP building which uses Wisma Kertamukti’s land is located on campus two in Kertamukti Street, East Ciputat. The location is right next to the building of Faculty of Psychology. Before being used as the location for the new building there stood a building that served as a liaison office or representative of Provincial Government of West Java in Jakarta. Now, the use of the land is managed by UIN Jakarta as a result of the cooperation of UIN Jakarta and the Provincial Government of West Java which was signed early last May.

FISIP Building, said Saeful, is built in two phases. The first phase is expected to finish at the end of December. "We hope, at the beginning of January, a new budget will be ready, so that we can continue with the second phase of construction", he said. Now, while the construction is in progress, students lecturing activities are held in the faculty of psychology.

The establishment of the Faculty of Social is done in line with the Rector of UIN Jakarta's decision No.162 of 2009; this Faculty consists of three courses of study (priodi); that is, Political Science, International Relations, and Sociology.

With the establishment of Faculty of Social Sciences, UIN Jakarta now has five general faculties and six religious faculties. The Five General Faculties are the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Economics and Business, and Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.
